Web Evaluations

I'm starting a new post, so we can discuss which websites we're each evaluating for this week. To get started, I'd like to evaluate www.kalamazoomi.com/hisf.htm, which is titled The History of Kalamazoo.

Okay sounds good, where should we put the info we find most interesting so that we can share what we think should go on the blog? Should we just put it here? - Sam

  1. Just double checking, since it seems like we all agreed that the projects should be broken up into individual works... are we breaking up the concept map between us (i.e. I can do Grand Rapids, Sam (or whoever posted the history of kalamazoo website) does Kalamazoo, etc)

  3. Because if that's the case, I'd like to evaluate http://www.grhistory.org/ which is the historical society's website for Grand Rapids as one of the three websites I evaluate.

  4. I think in order to make sure that we find websites for each city, that we should each focus on one city. There are four cities on our concept map, though. So, maybe we should also each find one website for the remaining city or find a website that includes info about all of the cities. This means I'm finding websites for Kalamazoo, and Kaitlyn is finding websites for Grand Rapids. I think you found a great one, by the way! Sam, which city do you want to focus on? I found another website for Kalamazoo. It's from the Kalamazoo Public Library, and it won a state history award. http://www.kpl.gov/local-history/all-about-kalamazoo/
Most importantly, we need to post which website we're evaluating, so we don't have any duplicates.

  8. My 2nd Grand Rapids history website will be : http://grcity.us/administrative-services/customer-service/Pages/A-Short-History-of-Grand-Rapids.aspx which is off the city's website

and I'll evaluate: http://www.heritagebattlecreek.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58&Itemid=61 for battle creek

  9. I couldn't find another site specific to Battle Creek, so I'm evaluating http://www.nwhm.org/education-resources/biography/biographies/sojourner-truth/. It's a biography about Sojourner Truth, a famous former slave, abolitionist, and women's rights activist who lived and died in Battle Creek.
